Pretty Eyes
…..(written to Kyle Asche Organ Trio’s song)
Pretty eyes are in a meditation retreat
seeing everything as it’s meant to be:
dazzling leaves in October’s ghost dance,
birds diving, birds hovering—a romance.
Pretty eyes bloom in summer’s fields,
are roses reflected in wine glasses,
amazing sunflowers on Van Gogh’s walls,
or stained glass windows in a cathedral.
They are always open to new adventure
like days of our limitless abandon—
getting lost in the psychedelic woods
where we remain until evening comes.
Pretty eyes are of the feminine divine,
the electric guitar, a nighthawk soaring,
the organ is the lion’s quiet roaring,
and the drum, our heart beats sublime.
