Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah
Christian Scott hates L.A.
Like I hate it
We both seek the beauty
Beyond the surface
Superficiality doesn’t get
Far with us
Like Diz, the bell of his
Trumpet is raised, like
David, ready to do battle
Like Miles, he is one in
The Sonic storm, feeling
The force the voodoo gives
I replay, rewind, revisit
All the giants, at home in
His sound, Miles, Diz, Lee Morgan
Blue Mitchell and Christian’s song
Is Blues on top of Blues
Is Blue- black, triple-black
Blues, the voodoo he captures
In sonic sound, the mystery
Like Miles, he chases
Down
