Known as “Sporty,” “Fump” and “The Judge,” Milt Hinton was a prolific and important bassist whose career lasted over 60 years. Among those he toured and/or recorded with includes Freddie Keppard, Jabbo Smith, Eddie South, Fate Marable, Zutty Singleton, Cab Calloway, Joe Bushkin, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Buck Clayton, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Billie Holiday, Ethel Waters and Teddy Wilson.
He was also recognized as an important photographer, much of which can be found in the book Overtime: The Jazz Photographs of Milt Hinton.
