“John Coltrane,” by Fred Jourdain
.
.
Acknowledgement
Gong, curtains splash open
black yellow clouds scatter
silver-lined tenor
for all times- on stage
Real McCoy stabs silk smooth as orient
ivories whittled in deep soul summations
Slipstream down to
heavenly earth
Father bass like an ancient tree
simple, steady, a Garrison fortress
is a low slung melody
greets the day
Skipping Jones laces em up,
swishing bright cymbalisms sidesticking around
like a feral horse cutting loose with rhythms cut from magi
Balthazar
King Kind rolls up his shirt sleeves
sets it, a big romp through Goldstep palace
lightning, graceful thunder- overhead
grateful day..
a love supreme
